Taipower has raised electricity prices beginning this month. While most universities have issued a price freeze on the power costs, National Taiwan University’s Taizi dormitory is not exempt from the freeze because it is outsourced. Residents of the dorm will see their power bills go up.

The dormitory has announced that starting in September, the average price per kilowatt hour will go from NT$3.7 to NT$4.6, a rise of 24%. The dorm says that the electricity price for signed contracts will remain unchanged, and that it will hold a public hearing on either Tuesday or Wednesday so that students can understand the situation.
