This facility will not belong only to Taiwan, but to the world. Why? Let me share something with you. A genetic study using the Y chromosome has found that the ancestors of all Austronesian-speaking countries – the most primitive ancestors – they originally came from Taiwan.

Kaohsiung has the largest Indigenous population in Taiwan, one that represents all 16 tribes. It’s been eight years since 2017. We’ve waited long and hard for this project.

The museum will cost a little over NT$7 billion to build. The Cabinet has already approved NT$5.8 billion for Phase 1 of the project. This first phase will include the main exhibition hall, a collections area, a ceremonial square and facilities for cultural and creative industries and tourism. The museum’s total area will exceed 27,000 square meters. Construction will start next year, with completion expected in 2031.
